May 2, 2022 — goTenna, the world leader in mobile mesh networking, unveiled a new custom case for its goTenna Pro X radio devices built by Bunker Supply Co., a developer of advanced products and ruggedized equipment for military, public safety, and law enforcement agencies.

The new goTenna Pro X Rugged Expeditition Case (REC) is the first hardshell case specifically designed for the Pro X, enabling end-users to extend their network range and further protect their goTenna devices in austere environments. Simultaneously ruggedizing the Pro X while enhancing radio performance, this Bunker product allows goTenna Pro X users to focus solely on mission-critical, life-saving tasks.

REC features universal mount flexibility which allows for the secure and comfortable attachment of the goTenna mobile mesh radio to vests, belts, bags, packs, and more. Boasting MIL-STD drop and impact protection, the REC simultaneously protects and secures the radio. It also has the potential to boost operable range to increase operator effectiveness in the field.

“Bunker is excited by the positive impact our partnership with goTenna will have for those working on the frontlines. By enhancing capabilities and improving situational awareness, first responders, government agents, and military personnel can perform their duties in any environment with greater safety and efficacy,” said Bunker CEO Ryan Olson.

goTenna Pro X has been successfully deployed to over 350 customers — including every branch of the U.S. military — across the United States from remote border regions to natural disaster response efforts. Due to its ability to function on an innovative mobile mesh network, this allows for situational awareness and text messaging even when traditional communications networks are inoperable. After Hurricane Michael in October 2018, the devices were issued to search and rescue teams during missions to Florida and Texas for response efforts. Users reported the system is easy to learn, deploy, and execute intuitively with smartphones, adding encryption for security purposes. goTenna was also used during the 2018 Camp Fire in Northern California to support off-grid communications and location tracking among remote teams, and saw activity in Tennessee during and after the March 2020 tornadoes. In recent months, these features have proven increasingly valuable for disaster response during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing for teams to effectively communicate from a safe social distance.

“goTenna is proud of this partnership with Bunker because together, our products are fully capable of responding to the needs of first responders, disaster responders, law enforcement, and military service members, making their jobs more efficient and safe,” said goTenna CEO Ari Schuler. “The hardware, software, and gear are mission-ready to take on all deployment terrains and disaster-affected environments.”
