goTenna Employee of the Month Spotlight: June 2020

Name: Ivan Antipov

June’s shoutout of the month goes to Ivan Antipov, QA Engineer. The award recognizes Ivan’s tireless commitment to goTenna’s quality assurance, field testing, and product development & performance. He talked to us about how goTenna has contributed to his professional growth and his elite bug-catching abilities.

What is your position and what does that entail?

My position is Quality Assurance Engineer. Here at goTenna, I am responsible for testing the whole family of products. As a member of the QA team, it is my responsibility to make sure that our product is at the best quality level possible. I work closely with many departments and accompany our product from the early stages of development to release and beyond. I often have to switch hats between manual, automation, and field testing to accomplish our goals, but this brings a variety to my workdays.

Tell me about your career before joining goTenna and how you ended up here.

Previously I used to work for a contract company that provided development and testing services. I grew very passionate about solving problems and improving the different software applications that were assigned to me. I am also an avid camper, so I saw great opportunities by working in goTenna fulfilling the mission of delivering communication to areas with no cell service and helping people in disasters.

What is an exciting project you have been working on recently? What is your proudest professional accomplishment at goTenna?

Recently we did a significant push on our automation efforts. At this point, we are getting really close to covering the full application functionality using a customizable and flexible suite of tests that will speed up and improve application testing coverage. This project is a pretty big accomplishment to be one of the most comprehensive programming projects that I worked on!

What is your favorite part of working at goTenna?

I really love the company’s culture, the challenges that we are able to solve as a team, and the learning opportunities that I have daily. On the other hand, I believe that we are making tools that can solve issues and potentially save lives and this motivates me to keep going.

What is something you would want others to know about goTenna?

goTenna as a company is a dream team of individuals that are able to bring their strengths together to make a very unique product. As we work together we learn new things professionally and personally, turning weaknesses to strengths.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

I am a musician, I record all of the music for my bands, I am an artist, and a traveler (so far I visited 29 states!)
